This is part of my personal Mission Style furniture collection. I'm slowly building complete bedroom set. After I finish the bedroom, I plan to make a couple more Mission Style pieces for the living room.
I built this from plain sawn red oak. The top and drawer faces are given a quarter sawn look by cutting thin, 1 1/4 inch strips off a plain sawn board, turning them 90 degrees and gluing them up. It's a lot of work but I really like the way it turns out. Plus, plain sawn red oak is a lot cheaper than quarter sawn white oak.
This is the first piece I've finished by spraying the the finishing on instead of wiping it on. I think spraying works better. See the finishing section for details on the stain and finish.
Dimensions: Width: 41 inches Height: 52 inches Depth: 20 inches
It was stained with my custom mission stain and top coated with a thinned Minwax Gloss Polyurethane.
